How Can I Become a Licensed Maintenance Technician?
To become a Licensed Maintenance Technician you must complete all of the following requirements:
- Training Requirements
a. Basic Maintenance Provider (BMP) Course - License Requirements
a. Pass Criminal Background Review by TCEQ - Testing Requirements
a. Pass the Maintenance Provider Exam 70% - Regulatory Requirements
a. Submit a completed application form
b. Submit the appropriate application fee
How Can I Become a Licensed Maintenance Provider
To become a Licensed Maintenance Provider, you must complete all of the following requirements:
- Training Requirements
a. Basic Maintenance Provider Course (BMP)
b. Advanced Maintenance Provider Course (AMP) - License Requirements
a. OSSF Installer II or Class C or higher Wastewater Treatment Operator license; or
b. Three years experience as MP or MT registrant
c. Pass Criminal Background Review by TCEQ - Testing /Requirements
a. Pass the Maintenance Provider Exam 70% - Regulatory Requirements
a. Submit a completed application form
b. Submit the appropriate application fee
c. Submit Criminal Background Check
What if I Don’t Want to Wait Three Years as a Maintenance Technician to Become a Maintenance Provider … Is There a Shortcut?
Yes, you can cut the three years to two years by completing the following steps in order::
- Fill out an Installer Apprentice Application, and submit it to the TCEQ along with a check.
- Work under an installer for 2 years during which time you must work on the installation of at least three systems during each of the two years. (This means that you will have worked on at least six installations during your apprenticeship.)
- Take the Installer II course.
- Pass the Installer II test.
- Submit the application and fee to become an Installer II.
